Description
The air hangs thick and heavy, smelling of salt and something else… something metallic and unsettling. You can almost taste it on your tongue. Above, the twin suns of Xylos beat down mercilessly, baking the ochre dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. This is no vacation paradise. This is survival.
You are a Scavenger, a denizen of the blasted wastes, born into a life of desperate clawing for existence. Generations ago, the Great Collapse swallowed Xylos's vibrant cities, leaving behind only ruins choked with sand and whispered tales of technological marvels. Now, humanity clings to life in scattered settlements, scratching a meager living from the unforgiving landscape.
Your clan, the Sand Hawks, is one such settlement. But recently, the sandstorms have grown fiercer, the rations are dwindling, and the whispers have turned to outright panic. Old Man Theron, the clan elder, has foreseen a coming famine, a time when the sand itself will turn to ash. He speaks of a legendary oasis, whispered to be hidden deep within the Scarred Lands, a place known only as 'Veridian Bloom.'
It's a myth, of course. Just a bedtime story to keep the children from crying themselves to sleep. Except… Theron has chosen you. You, a nobody, a nameless scavenger, to embark on a perilous journey into the unknown. You are tasked with finding Veridian Bloom, a place most believe doesn't exist.
Your only companions are the ancient map clutched in your sweaty hand, passed down through generations of Sand Hawks, and the rusty, sputtering dune buggy you managed to cobble together from scrap. Food and water are scarce. Raiders and mutated creatures roam the dunes, preying on the weak. The twin suns will drive you mad.
But you have a flicker of hope. A desperate, burning ember in the heart of a dying world. And that, Scavenger, might just be enough to keep you going.
So, tighten your goggles, grip the wheel, and prepare to face the unforgiving wasteland. The fate of the Sand Hawks, and perhaps even your own, rests on your shoulders. Welcome to Xylos. Welcome to the Scavenger's Trail. Now, let's see if you can survive long enough to find a myth.
