The air hangs thick and heavy, smelling of salt, brine, and something…metallic. Above, the twin suns of Xylos beat down relentlessly, casting jagged shadows that dance across the crimson sand. You squint, trying to focus your vision. Your memory is fractured, fragmented like shards of a shattered mirror. You remember a blinding flash, a searing pain, and then…nothing. You are draped in rags, the tattered remnants of what might have once been fine clothing. Your hands, calloused and rough, instinctively reach for your side, finding a worn leather sheath and the reassuring grip of a bone-handled knife. It's a small comfort in this desolate landscape. Around you stretches the Scorchlands, a wasteland rumored to be cursed, a graveyard of forgotten civilizations and shattered dreams. Twisted rock formations claw at the sky, punctuated by the skeletal remains of colossal machines, relics of a war so ancient its causes are lost to time. The wind howls a mournful dirge, carrying whispers of ancient gods and forgotten magic. You are not alone. In the distance, you see the flickering glow of a fire, a beacon in the vast emptiness. Are they friend or foe? Saviors or scavengers? You have no way of knowing. But one thing is certain: you are alive. Somehow, you have survived. And now, you must choose.
